Hi friends, I finally unpacked from my trip to the west and I’m here to tell you that I am in love. I cannot believe that places like that exist in the USA. I mean I have seen countless of movies that feature Wyoming, but you just don’t know until you’re there.
Yea well, I had a blast and I wanted to share what we did in our short 72 hours.
Where I landed:
After two flights, I finally landed at Jackson Hole Airport, Wyoming. It is the most amazing airport landing experience ever. You land right in front of the majestic Grand Tetons Mountains. It’s truly an experience.
Where we stayed:
49ER INN & SUITES, dog-friendly, fully equipped with a little fridge, microwave, and a fireplace. I really wish it would have been cooler so that we could have taken advantage of the fireplace. This hotel was perfect for our travel plans, it was walking distance from many of the Jackson Hole attractions and also from the mountains, we were eager to explore.
For the second night we stayed in a camping cabin at Cody KOA in Cody, Wyoming.
What we did:
DAY 1 :
UFF! Here comes the fun part. I will give you a disclaimer and tell you that we had to do dog-friendly adventures because Lucky( my sister’s pup) was with us.
- Grand Teton National Park Sign: while we were there about 5 families stopped to take their picture. I mean look at how beautiful these pictures look like with the mountains as your backdrop.
- Jenny Lake at Grand Teton NPS: Unfortunately we were not able to do any hiking at Grand Teton this time, but we did get to take a trail to see the beauty of Jenny Lake. This lake has stunning views of the majestic Grand Tetons. While there it started to rain and we didn’t have much time to explore the park but it is absolutely gorgeous. During the summer months, you can take a boat ride through the lake, you can hike and find some beautiful falls, and just explore more.
- Exploring Jackson Hole nightlife :
- We went to buy souvenirs after dinner at Lee’s Tees out in the town.
- Had delicious world-famous Huckleberry Ice Cream from Moo’s ice cream shop. ICYDN, Huckleberry Ice Cream is very famous out here because huckleberries are the fruit out here. It’s definitely worth the hype!
- Explored one of the most photographed locations at Jackson Hole, the four corners of Antlers. It just makes Jackson Hole Jackson Hole if you know what I mean.
- Saw the world-famous Million Dollar Cowboy Bar.
Day 2:
We had an early morning wake up call to make our way to Yellowstone NPS.
First stop, was the most photographed barn in the world. Literally, people fly from all over the world to see this barn. It is V famous. It has a beautiful backdrop.
Second stop was the inspiring Yellowstone National Park. Keep in mind that we did dog-friendly things, which of course means we did lots of driving and not much hiking etc. However, I would say it was definitely more than enough. It was a perfect way to experience 1/3 of what the park has to offer.
We entered through the South entrance and made a circle so that we would come out at the East exit in Cody, Wyoming exit. This worked perfectly for us because we got to see almost all the unique places Yellowstone has to offer.
Here are the things we saw:
- Kepler Falls- Beautiful three-tiered cascade drops over 50 feet.
- The Continental Divide – Most popular and best known as the Great Divide which separates the water that flows into the Atlantic Ocean from those that flow into the Pacific Ocean.
- Bison- Alive since prehistoric times.
- Moose- Largest members of the deer family.
- Old Faithful Geyser- Most known geyser
- Sapphire Pool-Gorgeous thermal feature in the Biscuit Basin
- Grand Prismatic Spring- Most beautiful, most photographed, most colourful thermal feature at Yellowstone. Located in the Midway Basin.
- Yellowstone Lake-Largest high elevation lake (above 7,000 feet )in North America.
Here are some pictures :
Day 3:
We drove down to Colorado and passed through a cute little town called Meeteetse, WY then stopped in two little towns full of things to do Thermopolis and Cheyenne. If you have some time I highly suggest you take time to explore. My sister and brother in law did and they loved it.
With this I close and tell you, if you’re doubting Wyoming, please don’t. It is truly a special place. Filled with beautiful places and it’s rich in history as it’s known to be the “equality state”.
Lastly, I want to publicly thank my sister and bro in law for taking me on their trip. I truly enjoyed exploring nature with the three of yall.
Let me know your thoughts on the comments. If you have any questions or need any help planning your trip, I am here to help.
XOXO
-Natalie
