In case you didn’t know, now you know. August is the month known as National Eye Exam Month, and I think this year it’s more important than ever to check up on our eyes. We can all agree that this COVID situation has had a major impact on our vision due to spending extensive time on our computers for work or leisure and on our phones. We must conclude that our eyes have most likely suffered.
Computer screens and phone screens have a high effect on our eyes. It can cause damages to our retina, lead to eyestrain, and can eventually lead macular degeneration. TRUST me we don’t want any of that.
That’s why I wanted to bring this to our awareness and bring you some helpful information.
Most of you don’t know but I had Lasik done about 4 years ago and thankfully I still have 20/20 vision, but it is highly important for me to continue getting annual check-ups. However, because of COVID, my eyes have suffered due to working 24/7 on a laptop and with poor lighting, so I decided to make some changes to maintain my vision. I bought these blue light blocking glasses and these preservative-free eye drops and they have been a tremendous help. I’ve noticed that I have suffered fewer headaches and experienced less dry eye.
Here are some tips I would like to pass along:
1. Always wear sunglasses.
2. Follow the 10-10-10 vision rule, look 10 ft away every 10 minutes for 10 seconds.
3. Use preservative-free eye drops to help lubricate the eyes
4. Wear blue light blocking glasses for long screen time.
