Woohooo!
The first month of 2017 just literally flew by our eyes! Even though I cannot believe it, I am so happy that we are getting closer to 2018! If you don’t know why then sit down and let me tell you. The number 18 is my favorite number. Gotcha! it’s no big deal but everyone who knows me knows this and now you do too!
So, I wanted to share a thought I had recently after having a conversation with one of my friends from school.
Our conversation started with him giving me an update of a ministry opportunity he was pursuing. It turned out that it didn’t work out. Obviously, were disappointed with the fact that what we were praying for didn’t work out, but little did I know what he was going to share next. He shared with me that he was offered a different ministry opportunity at the church where he was a member already. God opened the door for him. This opportunity was 100% better than what we were initially praying for. I was in total awe! We both were honestly. God had done it again, He had opened doors that didn’t even appear open! He’s so good.
Immediately, I began sharing with him my thoughts and encouraged him to see just see this opportunity as nothing more than God-given. I came to the realization that sometimes things do not work out simply because they were not meant to be. Because of that, we may get frustrated, disappointed, bitter, and honestly discouraged.
However, we shouldn’t allow those feelings or emotion from stopping us from pursuing what is good and the calling God has placed in our lives. We have to realize that what seems like a backup plan to us is actually God’s intended plan. There is no backup plan for Him. As my friend reminded me, it’s called God’s sovereignty. He allows things to work out as He pleases (Psalm 115:3).He works out everything perfectly, far better than what we can imagine.
That ministry opportunity, that job you were hoping for, that relationship that didn’t work out wasn’t meant to be. Something far better and more God-glorifying awaits. Be patient and know that He is God!
Remember what we are reminded of in Ephesians 3:20 of the amazing God we have. He can do good work in us and through us. So let us be ready to be in obedience to His plans and not ours.
“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.”
Ephesians 3:20-21
